“Baby Expo”

Our seminar sessions kick off at 10am with our Baby Expo in the Mezzanine. Bring out your infants and toddlers to participate in contests for prizes.  Enjoy our cute baby contests, diaper derby, and toddler races. Also, SWLA will be on site hosting their healthy baby clinic.  Come out and witness all the joy and smiles of our babies, get them a thorough health screening, and pick up some great information while you’re there.  Sponsored by Zeta Phi Beta, all proceeds benefit the March of Dimes.

“Mind on My Money”

Southwest Louisiana Credit Union will host the Mind on My Money Teen Financial Literacy Seminar.  We’re inviting all youth and teenagers to come out and learn about budgeting, credit, managing a bank account and credit cards.  Southwest Louisiana Credit Union is a financial pillar in the community and has taken on the much needed task of giving back to our youth.  This event is also supported in part by the Southwest Louisiana Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Come out to our “Protected and Covered” Insurance seminar where Tuwanna Guillory August, Allstate owner and agent, will educate you on the benefits and the importance of insurance and how as a community we are missing out on everything that insurance can do for our families.

“Why Am I Losing My Hair”

Trichologist Tammy Guillory will host her “Why Am I Losing My Hair” hair loss clinic.  Tammy has been educating herself on hair care, and servicing her local community for over 24 years.  Come out and learn how to properly care for your hair, how to address hair loss issues, and get familiar with her hair care products and treatments

“For the People, By the People”

Kicking off the day festivities is our “For the People, By the People” segment where area kids and youth display their talents through singing, dance, instruments, and other various talents.  High school bands, oral presentations, and our first set of bike giveaways round out an awesome start to the day.

“You Are Beautiful” (Hair, Makeup, Jewelry, & Fashion Showcase)

At 1pm, experience our “You Are Beautiful” Hair, Makeup, Jewelry, and Fashion showcase.  During our showcase, learn about the African American influence, growth, and history in beauty and fashion, while watching our gorgeous models display the latest in hair, makeup, jewelry, and fashion from some of our amazing vendors and sponsors.

“Live from the Village”

At 2pm, we go “Live from the Village” with the African Heritage band “Bamboula 2000”!!!  Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the motherland with live percussion, horns, guitar, keys, and singing from one of the coldest bands you’ll ever hear.

“Hall of Fame”

In our 3 o’clock hour we’re going to honor of Black Heritage Festival Hall of Fame recipients.  Our recipients are chosen for their excellence in their craft and their commitment to serving their community.  Our 2020 Hall of Fame committee and the Black Heritage Festival of Louisiana would like to thank this year’s Hall of Fame sponsor, Kendrick J. “Blessed to be a Blessing” Bicycle Giveaway

Every year, as a way to give back to our local youth, the Black Heritage Festival gives away bicycles to some lucky youth that attend the festival.  Bikes are both purchased by the festival, as well as donated by area residents, businesses, and organizations.  Registration is free, but the youth must be present to win.  If you, your employer, your church, your civic organization, or your business would like to donate bikes to be given away to our youth, please contact us at (337)309-4720

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

“Shining Star” Dance Competition

At 4pm we’re going to turn up to close out the day festivities with our “Shining Star” dance battle.  The Shining Star dance battle will host dance teams from all over Texas and Louisiana as they go head to head for their chance to win our $500, $300, and $200 cash prizes sponsored by Veron, Bice, Palermo, and Wilson Law Firm.  If you want your dance team to be a part of the competition with a chance to win the money, the title, and the respect; contact us at (337)309-4720.  Registration is free but space is limited.  Sign up today.

“Black Heritage Festival Legends Concert”

Freddie Jackson / Howard Hewett

Now after the day festivities, the gown folks are going to take the night over with our 2020 Black Heritage Festival Legends Concert featuring the one and only Freddie Jackson and Howard Hewett. Join us for a night of live adult entertainment as Freddie Jackson, and Howard Hewett perform all their classic hits. Hosted by Comedian Derrick Keener

“Gospel Explosion” Gospel Choir Musical

We’re going to close out the festival weekend, with an event that will lift your spirits.  Join as Sunday, March 15, for the Black Heritage Festival Gospel Choir musical.  Come out and witness a musical unlike any other, with a throwback feel to the classic days of gospel mass choirs.  Performing in this year’s musical from Lake Charles; United Christian Fellowship, Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Greater St. Mary, & Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.  Progressive Baptist Church from Lafayette, La, and Joel Jones and the 3MC choir from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, La.
